I arrived in Baghdad on the last day of May, so basically have been here for June, July and August. Those like me that are deployed for longer than 365 days are allowed three R&R’s or leaves. However, talking to my Human Resources contact revealed that currently due to the drawdown and expected pullout that civilian / CEW leaves are not being authorized after October 1st. Since I was planning to take my first leave in October to meet Shana with Jeff and Kristie in Italy, that kind of muddies the water on that.
